Rising progressive stars Stephanie Miner and Zephyr Teachout to keynote NYPAN conference in Binghamton on March 26th, with special guest appearances from Randi Weingarten and Nomiki Konst.
The New York Progressive Action Network (NYPAN), a grassroots organization that arose out of the Bernie Sanders movement, will host a full day of panels and presentations in Binghamton on Sunday March 26th.
Special guests include Stephanie Miner, attorney and progressive mayor of the city of Syracuse, and Zephyr Teachout, associate professor of law at Fordham University, author of “Corruption in America” and challenger to Governor Cuomo in 2014. Randi Weingarten, head of the AFT teacher’s union, will give her perspective on DeVos and consequences for education in New York. Experts from around the state will join panels on healthcare and Social Security, energy democracy, and the role of the media. Nomiki Konst, investigative reporter for The Young Turks, will share breaking New York political news. Syracuse musician Joe Driscoll will perform, and Arun Chaudhary, creative director of the Sanders’ campaign.
The conference begins at 9 am and runs until 5 pm in the Foley Auditorium at the Binghamton High School, 31 Main Street in Binghamton. Admission is $10 to $50, sliding scale (free with student ID).
